South and East Cork Area Development Partnership CLG (SECAD) is an integrated development company which has successfully delivered rural development and social inclusion programmes and initiatives in the area since 1995 on behalf of the European Union and the Irish Government through the National Development Plan.
SECAD delivers a number of major programmes along with other smaller initiatives e.g. the Rural Development Programme (RDP) which encompasses LEADER, the Social Inclusion & Community Activation Programme (SICAP), Tús Community Work Placement, and Rural Social Scheme (RSS) as well as a new gender equality project called WREN in conjunction with Rubicon at CIT and Ballyhoura Development Partnership.
Under our Social Inclusion brief, our aim is to improve the life chances and opportunities of those who are marginalised in society, living in poverty and those who are unemployed through community development approaches, targeted supports and inter-agency collaboration.
Under our Rural Development brief, we operate across a number of themes that reflect the overarching needs of rural Ireland. These relate to economic recovery, employment creation, tackling social exclusion and reducing the impact of global warming and resource depletion.
